Neda River flows among the peaks of Mount Tetrazio, at the northern part of Messinia. This river is the natural boundary between the prefectures of Achaia and Ileia. The numerous springs of the river are located at the foot of Mount Lycaeon near Petra Village. After they have gone through narrow gorges, plateaus and ravines, under stone bridges and through caves and waterfalls, they reach the fertile meadows of Kiparissia Bay.
In the past the banks of the river were home to great civilizations and saw great battles. Nowadays, the traditional villages of the area still retain a rare, exotic beauty; they are the “diamonds” of Greece.
